“The black squares with colored centers came to me via a tv commercial showing a pair of hands holding little tickets of some kind. I just liked the strong shapes and figured I could use them in a painting - which I have, several times. The title comes from those signs we see on the interstates every day. It was just a matter of matching up a good title with the right work of art.”
